Maybe TV isn’t as bad as it sometimes seems. There are still good programs like this one coming on:

Black. White.

The idea of the show is that a white family and a black family “switch races” and live in the appearance of the opposite race to see what it’s like.

    Salaam ‘alaykum Leena!

I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the ad for this show. Depending on how they frame it, it could be a really insightful & thought-provoking series!

    Warmly,

Yeah I hope it will be good… Although I watched a preview and it seems like it will be much like a “reality” show. Like they have the two families living together and all the drama, etc… We’ll see! :-)

Would anyone be willing to tape this for me so I can see it? We are cable-less.

I couldn’t catch it as the finale of Project Runway was on at the same time - what did you think?

Hehe, I was very close to watching Project Runway that night…

Well the show was okay. I think the white family is very out-of-touch with black people; some of the things that they said amazed me. Like the white woman said the first thing she’d do (as a black woman) when she met people was “give them all high-fives” — come on! I guess there are some places where people would so very rarely know/interact with anyone of a different race, but most of what the white people said was surprising to me.

I don’t know how the rest is going to go… :-)

i think a show like this is productive only if done in a very sensitive way.
