Ugh (yet again)
The world is full of so many damn idiots. Some stupid Philadelphian went to run among bulls in Spain to “celebrate life” (ha!) after beating cancer and got gored in the ass. F%$@in’ idiot. I hope he got his money’s worth over there.
It’s a shame they can’t all be gored… but the poor bulls do the best they can.

An asshat, literally. ^_^
lol :-P
as-salaamu ‘alaikum,
Leena, I have uploaded the entire segment of Imam Zaid Shakir’s talk. You commented on the “Suicide Bombing” post some time ago, saying that you had questions about his ideas and wished to hear the entire talk. Well you may download and listen to the entire talk by going to my website and at the bottom right hand corner you will find the down loads.
maa’ salamah
My husband and i went to the running of the bulls in 2004 for our honeymoon. Since then he has jumped out of a plane, white water rafted, got a free f-16 ride and he says none of it compares to the absolute ignorant feeling he got when he ran with those bulls. lol We Americans look at it and say this is insane and my husband was very upset at the Bull fight they had the day before. We think its a sport but they don’t. To them its an “art’, literally it is like theater. It’s a battle between to adversaries being replayed over centuries. Man against beast. In various stages we win and sometimes the beast wins. This is a dance that recycles this dynamic in bull fighting. Now, Spaniards aren’t heavy meat eaters. They aren’t info guns like us and hunting random animals for “sport” like they do in the states isn’t there thing either. The meat of the bull is giving to the needy and they look at this festival as a change for the beast to get even. Any man “man” enough to step battle the beast represents the continued struggle, urge or man to be Kalifah of his domain. He reminds everyone around him of this and he reminds the Beast (although, when i was there seems like the beast were giving their own reminders). I just wanted to share that with you. You have to go and see it and just watch to really have some tiny idea of what it means to them.
Their silly manhood traditions mean nothing to me and never will.
I don’t think simply seeing it will change anyone, there are plenty of Spaniards who are against it as well. “Man against beast” is bullshit. There is hardly any situation on earth that we humans get into with a “beast” where the human doesn’t start with a heavy advantage.
They may love to see an animal beaten and chased and punched and stabbed with rods and provoked to the point of complete exhaustion until death, but it’s neither a sport nor an art, it’s torture.
Thanks for sharing your view with me. :-)
