I was born on August 12.

I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. Now I live in a Philadelphia suburb.

I have strong opinions about nearly everything but I try to stay tolerant of other opinions. (Except Republicanist and neo-conservatist lies. )

I’m (mostly) a pacifist. That is, I don’t believe modern warfare is compatible with human rights. I do believe people should have the right to directly defend themselves. I am opposed to the very existence of weapons. (Not that it means anything.)

I started blogging in 1999 (although no evidence of this has survived.)

I love web design.

My past blog locations have been: log.squig.org and lai.vadem.org.

I can’t remember large blocks of my life. That’s a good thing and a bad thing.

I’m a vegetarian. I’m very passionate about it (proud PETA supporter.) I think it goes without saying that I love animals, but I say it anyway.

I have two dogs (one is the mother of the other, who was pregnant before she met me), one cat, one rabbit and two frogs. I adore them all. See the Dogster badge!

I try to do everything I can to live my life in an environmentally-friendly way. The more I learn, the more I recognize that this is nearly impossible for a “modern” lifestyle. I’m trying to find a balance. If environmentalists were honest, they would admit that people should kill themselves, that’s why we have to find a balance.

I do not want to have children. Ever. (Happily Childfree!)

I was raised in hanifism (ethical uprightness) and I follow Islam.

I study and try to learn the teachings of the Quran.

I am slightly obsessed with Depeche Mode.

I love to blog but I have some issues about opening up, mostly because I hate people tongue . [Working on this…]

I like to learn on my own. Autodidacticism FTW!

I’ve never had a driver’s license.

Even though I’m a liberal, I support capital punishment for some disgusting and immoral things. Like murder and animal/child rape and abuse.

I love to read. I read everything: labels, signs, stickers, fine print, etc. One thing I don’t like to read is poetry. (There are a few poets I like and I’m open to trying to like poetry. Anyone with some good ones to share, please send them my way!)

I like plants and flowers.

I love music.

What is your favorite ayah or surah from the Qur’an that you like to recite most often?

    رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

“My sustainer, increase my knowledge.” (20:114) Is probably one of the ones I say most often. For the others that I like, keep watching the Ayah of the Day script. I post my favorites there, too.

I was going through the Flickr pages (leenient) and I found what I think is ur page. We’re doing a story on the Coachella parking lot and I found a pic of urs I really liked – its a daytime photo of the empty lot. If ur interested, I’d like to use ur shot in a Coachella roundup story (see our website below), and ask u 2-3 questions (who u went to see, why, etc). Would u be interested in having us use ur pic and Q&A? If so, let me know ASAP and we can work on getting it done – thanks!

“I do not want to have children. Ever.”

    Do you pity your parents?

It was their choice to have me. They know that I think it was a bad decision. But what does my opinion about having children have to do with my parents?
